The Washington, DC Downtown Holiday Market is an annual outdoor shopping “village” which supports local small businesses and entrepreneurs. The market is an especially great way to shop local while still remaining socially distant!
Located on F street between 7th and 9th in NW DC, the Downtown Holiday Market is open from November 19 until Christmas Eve eve (December 23) from noon to 8pm. Previously the market was located along the sidewalk, but they have expanded the market the last two years by blocking off road traffic on F street to allow for wider aisles. Rather than walking between stalls, the layout is more of a loop around outward facing vendors.
Visitors are asked to follow the designated one-way path to avoid congested walkways. It’s laid out in a loop, so it’s not much of an inconvenience – just follow the circle and you won’t miss anything!
The market features more than 70 local exhibitors selling art, clothing, crafts, and more. The exhibitors include minority-owned businesses from DC’s Department of Small and Local Business Development. As of 2021, there is a live stage which will feature local performers to enjoy while you browse!
I really enjoy exploring all the local businesses and what they have to offer. There are so many great gift ideas! One of my favorite vendors is the Female Power Project with fun inspirational magnets and prints which make for great stocking stuffers! I also LOVE Chouquette Chocolates which have so many DC themed caramel chocolates. One of my favorite jewelry vendors is KVZ Designs which features beaded and woven jewelry handcrafted in Guatemala.
These are just a few of many amazing exhibitors at the market. For more information on the market visit their website here. Happy holidays everyone and stay safe!
