New Year’s Resolutions – 2020
Can you believe we started a new decade!?
Amusingly enough, it took me until two days prior to New Year’s Eve to realize we were about to start the new ’20s!
A lot of people dislike New Year’s Resolutions because they are so easily forgotten. Personally, I love taking time at the beginning of each year to reprioritize and set goals for myself!
These are my goals for 2020:
Run my first 10K
Last year, I aimed to start running again. Though I did run more in 2019 than in previous years, I still would like to run more frequently than I did. My brothers and I agreed to sign up for a 10K/half-mile race this May! I’ve never voluntarily run more than a 5K so this is definitely a stretch goal, but I am excited to push myself!
Volunteer as an ESL Teacher
I used to volunteer to teach English to adults through a charity in Northern Virginia. Since moving to DC, I haven’t volunteered and I am really looking forward to start volunteering again!
Read at least one book per month
Reading more was one of my goals last year. I totally slacked on this goal because I didn’t make it specific enough. My minimum this year is one book per month, but I am hoping to squeeze in even more!
Work on my French skills
This past Fall I was able to take French classes through my job. I’m really excited to continue these classes in 2020! It’s really important for me to keep up with my French because this is how I communicate with my future-in-laws. I very rarely speak with my fiance in French, even though he is fluent. This year, I am going to try to actually practice my French with him. 🙂
Blog Consistently
Since moving back from France, I kept meaning to start blogging again but I kept procrastinating. Last summer, I finally started to post consistently – aiming for one new post weekly. In the last 6 months (26 weeks), I published 20 new blog posts! My goal for 2020 is to continue to post weekly.
Buy a House
We are currently shopping around with the hopes to buy a house (or condo, or apartment, etc. etc. etc.) by the end of 2020! I am really excited to find the right place and get settled in.
Marry the love of my life - TWICE
This isn’t really a goal, but 2020 is the year that my fiancé and I are getting married – not just once, but twice! We are getting married in the US this Spring, and then in Morocco this Fall! We have a lot of planning still to do, but this will definitely be a year to remember.
